Watch These New Movies Adapted From Your Favorite Books

What’s the evening plan folks? Got something to do over the weekend? May we suggest you watch new movies at the cinema? And not just any movies. How about the latest movies adapted from some classic books? This year and early next year will see the release of new movies based on some great books.

If you are looking for activities to do in Nairobi, here’s a list of great movies now and soon showing. We’ve included their trailers to help you decide.

Me Before You

It is one of this year’s new movies and is based on the romantic novel by Jojo Moyes with the same name. All we can say of the movie is you might shed a tear or two and that the ladies might like it a bit more than the gents. Gentlemen, take your girlfriends or girl-friends to watch this and earn yourself some bonga points for sitting through a chic flick. (Even though you might also secretly like it :))

The Legend of Tarzan

The latest installment of Legend of Tarzan makes it to the list of new movies you should catch. Tarzan goes back to the jungle after acclimating to life in London, to investigate the activities at a mining encampment. The movie is based on the books, ‘Tarzan Stories’ by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Queen of Katwe

Released on September 23, 2016

Tim Crothers book The Queen of Katwe comes to the silver screen and our very own Lupita Nyong’o is starring in it.  It is the colorful true story of a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess.  From the millions of views on the trailer it’s safe to say it is one of the most anticipated new movies this year.

 

The BFG

Disney’s new movies this year include The BFG. It tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. It’s based on the 1982 children’s book written by Roald Dahl.

 

Fantastic Beasts

Released on November 18, 2016

If you love Harry Porter then you are in for a treat with this movie. It’s based on the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by JK Rowling under the pseudonym of the fictitious author Newt Scamander. Starring award winning Eddie Redmayne, it’ll be the first film of a trilogy.
