Hospitals in Nairobi Offering Free Breast Cancer Screening This Month.

As you may well know October is breast cancer awareness month. You will have seen campaigns on social media and main stream media aimed at sensitizing the public on breast cancer. Among these campaigns is the reminder for men and women to get screened for breast cancer.

On our social media platform, (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) we have been giving out tips on how to reduce the risk of getting cancer. One of them was spotting the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. This is for people who perform self-examinations which is highly recommended.

While it’s important to regularly examine yourself for the symptoms, it’s better to have a professional do it. We know it can be expensive. Lucky for all of us, most hospitals in Nairobi are offering free breast cancer screening and discounted screenings this month.

These are the hospitals offering free breast cancer screening. We have also included some that offer screening for other types of cancer at subsidized prices.

Nairobi Women’s Hospital

The Nairobi Women’s Hospital is offering FREE breast examinations. They are also offering the following discounted cancer screening tests.

Pap Smear at Sh900,

Prostate (PSA) at Sh1,500

Beast Ultrasound from Sh3,000.

This will last until the end of the month (Oct 31) and it’s at all their branches.

The Mater Hospital

Every Friday from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm this month you can get a FREE breast cancer screening at The Mater Hospital. All the Medical Centers, (Development House, Westlands, Buruburu, Embakasi and Thika) will also offer the free breast examination. Additionally, they have drastically reduced their Mammogram, Breast Ultrasound and Pap smear charges throughout the month of October.

Agha Khan University Hospital

Agha Khan is one of the best hospitals in Kenya that offer specialized cancer consultation, cancer diagnostics and cancer screening checks. This month they have reduced their prices on all cancer screening. A Mammogram is now Sh 2,500 at the hospital and at all its branches countrywide.

M.P Shah Hospital

M.P Shah is also among the hospitals in Nairobi offering FREE breast cancer screening this month. They have a Free Breast Clinic from Monday- Friday at 9 am- 4 pm and on Saturdays 9am- 11 am. The following are the other subsidized cancer screening prices the hospital is offering.

Mammography- Sh 2,500

Breast Ultrasound- Sh 2,600

Pap Smear- 900

Prostate Specific Antigen- Sh 1,700

Mammography and PAP Smear Package- Sh 3,200

Adult Male (Ultrasound of The Abdomen, Chest X-ray, PSA) – Sh 10,000

Adult Female (Ultrasound of The Abdomen, X-ray, PAP Smear) – Sh 10, 000

GI (Upper Gastro Intestinal Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Biopsy) – Sh 60,000

All the packages include a specialist doctor’s consultation.
